NEW DELHI: Cloud communications solution (CPaaS) provider Avaya has appointed Patrick Dennis, current Chairman, as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The company announced Wednesday that its current president and CEO, Alan Masarek, will retire at the end of calendar year 2024.

Dennis has 30 years of experience in industries including enterprise software, software-as-a-service (SaaS), cybersecurity, and communications. He is currently CEO of Venafi, a cybersecurity company in the process of being acquired by CyberArk.

“I am honored and excited to lead Avaya into the next phase of its journey, building on the solid foundation laid by Alan and the leadership team,” said Dennis. “Avaya now operates from a position of financial strength and industry leadership, and our strategy is resonating with customers around the world who can trust Avaya’s consistency in strategic direction and commitment to their long-term success.”

Prior to his appointment at Venafi, Dennis was CEO of ExtraHop. He also served as CEO of Aspect Communications (a multinational software company that sells customer experience software to large enterprises and is now known as Alvaria) and Guidance Software, and held several leadership positions at EMC and Oracle Corporation.

Masarek’s resignation comes at the end of a successful eight-quarter corporate restructuring that established Avaya’s strategic plan for innovation and growth, Avaya said in a statement.

“…while there is certainly more to be done, Avaya’s new strong position combined with Patrick’s unique ability to lead the company provides me with the opportunity to return after my retirement with full confidence in Patrick’s ability to lead Avaya to long-term growth and innovation,” said Masarek.
