Alabama Swimming and Diving ranks 22nd on the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama. – Twenty-two student-athletes from the Alabama men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have been named to the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America’s Scholar All-America Team, the organization announced.

Alabama had five women who made the first team Ella Menear, Diana Petkova, Gaby Van Brunt, Cadence Vincent And Kailyn Winter while Colten Cryer, Tommy Hagar, Charlie Hawke, Tim Korstanje, Jake Marcum And Zarek Wilson were named first-team scholar-athletes for the men.

In addition, Alabama had 11 second-team receivers in Mackenzie Brandt, Brendan Conners, Brendan Conners, Sophia Garrison, Julia Herring, Kasia Norman, Ryleigh Rodgers, Courtney Russo, Sydney Sanders, Trey Sheils And Eric Stelmar.

To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have competed in their national championship. Second-team selections must also have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have achieved a “B” time standard for the national championship or qualified for a diving zone qualifying meet.

  • Jake Marcum received the College Sports Communicators’ Academic All-America award, while Mackenzie BrandtKorstanje, Petkova and Winter were named district-wide award winners
  • Hawke, Korstanje and Wilson were selected to the All-Southeastern Conference second team, while Hagar, Sydney Sanders and Van Brunt were named to the All-Freshman Team
  • Colten Cryer, Peter Edin, Julia Herring, Ryleigh Rodgers And Courtney Russo Advance to the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships
  • All 22 student athletes scored points for Alabama at the SEC Championships
