Tennessee defender leaves UT and enrolls in community college

A Tennessee defensive lineman has left Rocky Top before the 2024 football season.

Parker Thune of Rivals reported that volunteer redshirt freshman DE Chandavian Bradley has left UT and enrolled at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. Bradley confirmed Thune’s report, citing the post and thanking Josh Heupel’s staff for the opportunity.

Over the years, numerous athletes have transferred from power conference programs to the JUCO level due to academic issues. However, Bradley said that was not the case with his transfer. He told a commentator that he did not have a grade problem.

Bradley, who attended Platte County (Missouri) High School, was a sought-after prospect. He was rated four stars, was the 21st-ranked defensive lineman and 136th-ranked prospect in the 247Sports Composite and had 32 scholarship offers.

In the spring and summer of 2022, Bradley visited Tennessee, South Carolina, Texas A&M and Kansas. Bradley verbally committed to UT in July 2022. Deion Sanders’ staff at Colorado made a late push to turn Bradleybut the Under Armour All-American kept his verbal promise and signed with the Volunteers in December 2022.

At Tennessee, Bradley did not receive any playing time in the 2023 season, so he was redshirted. While no team looks to weaken its players during the summer, Bradley’s departure likely will not impact the 2024 defense.

Bradley has four seasons of college football eligibility remaining and is eligible to play for Hutchinson CC in 2024. The Knoxville News Sentinel reported in March that Bradley was charged with reckless driving by the UTPD.
