Dallas Cowboys: 1 shocking player listed as overrated
Dallas Cowboys: 1 shocking player listed as overrated

The Dallas Cowboys have been in the NFL news this offseason for many reasons. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, quarterback Dak Prescott and star defensive player Micah Parsons have yet to receive contract extensions from Dallas this offseason.

Lamb is expected to hold out when training camp begins. There have been many transfer rumors about him this offseason as he is in the final year of his contract at just 25 years old.

Prescott may not be with the Dallas Cowboys next season if a new contract is not reached by the start of the 2024 regular season. Parsons will not be a free agent after this season, but he will need to be paid long-term.

Pro Football Network considers Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs to be one of the most overrated players in the NFL

Athletes meet Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs during the Austin American-Statesman’s High School Sports Awards show at the Long Center on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

Trevon Diggs missed most of last season due to injury. The Dallas Cowboys’ secondary wasn’t the same without him. With Stephon Gilmore out this season, he and Daron Bland will have to shut down the other team’s best wide receivers.

The strength of this football team lies in defense. After Dan Quinn left his position as defensive coordinator to become head coach of the Washington Commanders, Mike Zimmer is the new defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys this season.

Anthony DiBona of Pro Football Network believes that Trevon Diggs of the Dallas Cowboys is one of the most overrated players in the NFL. DiBona said of Diggs:

“Despite missing most of last season with a torn ACL, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs is the team’s most overrated player. Many will fixate on Diggs’ interception number, but they often forget the number of receiving yards he allowed.

While Diggs recorded 14 interceptions from 2021-2022, he also allowed 10 receiving touchdowns and over 1,800 yards. Diggs is still considered one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, but he takes way too many risks on the field.”

When Trevon Diggs played in a few games for the Dallas Cowboys last season, he recorded four total tackles, one forced fumble, one interception, and three pass deflections. Diggs was selected in the second round (51st overall) out of Alabama in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Trevon Diggs is only 25 years old. He will intercept a lot of passes for the Cowboys this season, but the defense will allow big plays because he is out of position at times.
