ATLANTA – Head coach of the University of Utah football team Kyle Whittingham has been named to the 2024 Dodd Trophy Preseason Watch List, it was announced today. The Dodd Trophy is awarded each year by the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and Peach Bowl Inc.

Whittingham is one of 21 coaches on the preseason list, with four coaches representing the Big 12. Whittingham will enter the 2024 season as the second-longest-tenured head coach at the same school in the NCAA FBS.

The 2024 season will be its as head coach and 31st overall as part of the program, with an overall record of 162-79 as Utah’s all-time record holder. He ranks among all active FBS head coaches and fourth among head coaches at the same school.

Including his 11 seasons as an assistant coach for the Utes, he has contributed to more wins (247) than any other coach in program history. He has coached 367 games for Utah, including 241 as head coach.

Under his leadership, the Utes have posted seven 10-win seasons and have finished with a win in 17 of his 19 years as coach. He has a 100-61 record in conference play (.621), has won two Pac-12 championships, four Pac-12 South titles and one Mountain West championship.

He has won the National Coach of the Year award three times – twice in 2008 and once in 2019. He was the AFCA Coach of the Year and Bear Bryant Award winner in 2008 and also won the Dodd Trophy in 2019.
