College football expert predicts future top 15 teams, Tennessee Vols make the cut

A well-known expert has predicted that the Tennessee Volunteers will be among the top 15 teams in college football.

While the attention in college football is focused on the upcoming 2024 season, fans and analysts are naturally always looking ahead. Whether it’s the best young players, big games for the upcoming seasons, or potential changes in the game, the future is always taken into consideration. That’s exactly the mindset one college football analyst had when predicting the 15 best college football teams for the next three years.

Josh Pate of 247 Sports released his top 15 list on Sunday’s episode of Late Kick Live. He used a variety of factors to whittle his list down to 15, including recruiting, transfer portal usage and recent success. With the requirements in place, Pate concluded that Tennessee would be the 12th best college football team over the next three years. Here’s the rest of the list:

  1. Georgia
  2. Alabama
  3. Ohio State
  4. Oregon
  5. Texas
  6. State of Florida
  7. Notre-Dame
  8. Oklahoma
  9. Michigan
  10. Texas A&M
  11. LSU
  12. Tennessee
  13. Miami
  14. Clemson
  15. Penn State

This is great news for Tennessee fans, as the College Football Playoff will expand to 12 teams this season and is expected to include even more teams in the near future, so if this prediction comes true, the Volunteers will be a playoff team for the next few years and have some chances at the national title.

Tennessee hasn’t been a College Football Playoff team under head coach Josh Heupel, but they’ve been close. Looking ahead to the 2024 season, there’s a belief that Tennessee could be one of the 12 teams to make the playoffs, even with Nico Iamaleava entering his first season as a full-time starting quarterback.
