Restaurant inspections in the capital region: July 1 to 5

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) — At the end of each week, the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) releases its list of inspections of food service establishments for that week. Establishments include restaurants, school cafeterias, park food stands and other places that have commercial kitchens and serve food.

Here are the inspections reported by the NYSDOH from July 1-5, broken down by critical violations, non-critical violations, and no violations. For a list of all restaurant inspections from the past few years, visit the NYSDOH website.


Critical violations

Hiland Park Country Club, 195 Haviland Road in Queensbury

  • Inspection date: July 1
  • Violations:
    • Critical: Cooked or prepared foods are susceptible to cross-contamination from raw foods
    • Critical: Toxic chemicals are incorrectly labelled, stored or used, which can lead to food contamination
    • Food is not protected from potential sources of contamination during storage, preparation, presentation, transport and serving (e.g. food left open, incorrectly labelled, stored on the floor, missing or inadequate sneeze guards, food containers double stacked)
    • Non-food contact surfaces and equipment are improperly designed, constructed, installed and maintained.
    • No accurate thermometers available or in use to measure temperatures during cool or warm storage
    • Manual equipment inadequate, technology wrong
    • Plumbing and sinks are not properly sized, installed and maintained; appliances and floors are not properly drained
    • Inadequate lighting and ventilation, fittings not shielded, dirty extractor hoods, pipes, filters, exhaust fans

  • Inspection date: July 2
  • Violations:
    • Critical: Accurate thermometers are not available or used to measure potentially dangerous food temperatures during cooking, reheating, and holding.
    • Food is not protected from potential sources of contamination during storage, preparation, presentation, transport and serving (e.g. food left open, incorrectly labelled, stored on the floor, missing or inadequate sneeze guards, food containers double stacked)
    • Food serving utensils in use are stored improperly
    • Tobacco is used; eating, drinking, food preparation, dishwashing, food storage areas
    • Non-food contact surfaces and equipment are improperly designed, constructed, installed and maintained.
    • Wipes dirty, not properly stored in disinfectant solutions
    • Plumbing and sinks are not properly sized, installed and maintained; appliances and floors are not properly drained
    • Handwashing facilities are inaccessible, in the wrong location, dirty, in poor condition, with unsuitable fittings, soap and missing disposable towels or hand-drying equipment.
    • Rooms littered, unnecessary equipment, living areas not completely separated from catering establishments

  • Inspection date: July 2
  • Violations:
    • Critical: Food from unauthorized source, spoiled, adulterated on site
    • Critical: Toxic chemicals are incorrectly labelled, stored or used, which can lead to food contamination
    • No accurate thermometers available or in use to measure temperatures during cool or warm storage

Camp Stomping Ground, 3430 Boyhaven Road in Middle Grove

  • Inspection date: July 3
  • Violations:
    • Critical: Potentially hazardous foods are not stored refrigerated except during necessary preparation or approved pre-chilling procedures.
    • Food is not protected from potential sources of contamination during storage, preparation, presentation, transport and serving (e.g. food left open, incorrectly labelled, stored on the floor, missing or inadequate sneeze guards, food containers double stacked)

Coffee Shop of the Friends of the Saratoga Public Library, 49 Henry Street in Saratoga Springs

  • Inspection date: July 5
  • Violation:
    • Critical: There are insufficient cold storage facilities that are not properly designed, maintained or operated so that all potentially hazardous foods can be properly chilled and stored below 45 degrees.
