Marshall football coach Charles Huff praises the school’s new NIL partnership

Athlete Advantage announced a multi-year partnership with Marshall University to become the NIL management partner for Marshall University athletics.

“Fans and businesses can contribute to Marshall student-athletes’ NIL through the Thunder Trust Collective, providing greater access and unique experiences for corporate partners and supporters,” Marshall Athletics said in a press release announcing the partnership.

Athlete Advantage partners with a number of other universities and provides NIL management services including licensing and merchandise, management software, donor recruitment and more.

One of the founders of Athlete Advantage, Ryan Miller, played football at Marshall in the early 1990s.

Charles Huff, head coach of the Marshall football team, expressed his support for the partnership on X.

“This is GREAT! We need the entire Herd Nation to support our student-athletes! The landscape of college sports is changing and we are adapting to the changes!”

Marshall athletic director Christian Spears also issued a supportive statement.

“The new collegiate sports enterprise will require new ways to accomplish this, particularly around NIL. Partnering with a group that has proven it can do this at an elite level has been critical for us to preserve who we are and who we want to continue to be – we are grateful to have Athlete Advantage on board,” Spears said.

Huff is entering his fourth season as head coach at Marshall. Huff’s first two seasons at Huntington resulted in wins, but the Herd went 6-7 last season and lost in the Frisco Bowl. Marshall’s 2024 season begins on August 31 against Stony Brook.
