IOWA CITY – Class of 2025 cornerback CJ Bell has joined the Iowa football team, he announced Monday.

Bell, who attends St. Thomas More School in Connecticut, is a three-star recruit and ranks No. 1,101 nationally in the class of 2025 according to the 247Sports Composite. The Massachusetts native is the 95th-ranked cornerback in the rising senior class. Bell is 6-foot-2 and weighs 175 pounds, according to his bio on X (formerly Twitter).

Bell’s top nine schools included Iowa, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Boston College, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Penn State, North Carolina State and Rutgers.

Bell recently paid an official visit to Iowa.

Iowa has had tremendous success in developing defensive backs under position coach and defensive coordinator Phil Parker—the most recent of whom were Riley Moss and Cooper DeJean, all of whom have since moved on to the NFL.

The Hawkeyes have continued to make progress on their 2025 recruiting class in recent days. On Sunday, two 3-star offensive linemen, Cameron Herron (Warren Central, Indiana) and Lucas Allgeyer (Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day, Missouri), each committed to Iowa. A few days earlier, Iowa City West athlete Mason Woods, son of special teams coordinator LeVar Woods, committed to the Hawkeyes.
