Birmingham Police Officer Warns Criminals: “We Live in Alabama Where Everyone Has a Gun”

Two people were killed and another suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a fatal shooting in Birmingham on Friday afternoon. According to AL.com, a suspected botched robbery occurred in a south Birmingham neighborhood.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department issued a plea to violent criminals following a deadly week in the city that saw several fatal shootings in what is believed to be a planned and targeted crime.

“We can’t stress to you enough how important people, places and behaviors are to the violence in our city,” Fitzgerald said, as the number of broad daylight crimes rose this summer. “This comes from love… young men, we live in Alabama where everyone has a gun. Before you think you can take someone by surprise, remember that the other person you think might be a victim. That doesn’t always happen.”

“These are two men wearing ski masks in 32 degree heat,” said Fitzgerald.

“Tell us what you think they were planning. We’ll look into it.”
