53:14 Music video experiment – applications open

Attention, Colorado musicians and filmmakers: Applications for the 2024 edition of the 53:14 Music video experiment.

The 53:14 Music Video Experiment pairs ten Colorado filmmakers with ten Colorado musicians or bands and gives them a limited window of time (53 hours and 14 minutes) to conceive, shoot, edit and deliver an original music video.

And another surprise? The filmmakers and musicians won’t find out who they’ll be working with until the launch event on August 16, 2024. At that point, teams of filmmakers will be randomly paired with musicians and sent off to create an original music video in just over two days (see schedule below).

Each team will have a budget of $1,000 to use for whatever they need to complete the project. The videos will then premiere on August 30, 2024 during a public screening at the Lyric in Fort Collins, Colorado.

This is an incredible opportunity to collaborate with Colorado artists and create a professional music video. Below are some examples from past years.

Note that 53:14 is not a competition. Yes, there is an application process to get accepted. However, the organizers want 53:14 to be a collaborative, community-building experience.

Details on how to apply can be found on the 53:14 website. There are separate application forms for musicians and filmmakers. The deadline for applications is Friday 28 June. Good luck!
