What is the Houston Texans’ record against the Tennessee Titans?
What is the Houston Texans’ record against the Tennessee Titans?

When it comes to NFL games, nothing gets Texans fans more excited than a game against the Tennessee Titans. Since the Texans joined the league in 2002, these games against the Titans have always been intense and full of heart. Every time our team faces them, it’s a battle that brings out the true spirit of Houston football in all its glory.

The first meeting took place in November 2002, when the Texans traveled to Tennessee to play the Titans. With David Carr at quarterback, the Texans lost 17-10. The Texans then hosted the Titans, where they lost again 13-3.

The Texans lost all of their first four meetings with the Titans. But then, in the 2004 NFL season, Houston got its first two wins against Tennessee, defeating them by a combined 20 points.

However, Houston has won every game in the last three meetings between the two teams, with two of those coming from former Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud. And next season, if the Texans build a better team than last year, Stroud can pick up two more wins, which would bring his record against the Titans to 4-0.

And another fun fact about these two teams’ records against each other: They have gone to overtime four times. Those four games were in 2023, 2020, 2013, and 2006. In those games, the scores were 2-2. And the highest scoring game was in 2020, when they scored a total of 78 points.

Over the years, both teams have been able to put together some pretty good teams, but so far the Titans lead the series 23-21 in the 44 games between the two AFC South teams. Although the Titans have a small lead so far, that could change in the 2024-25 season. If Houston wins both games, the series will be tied.

This rivalry has been elite and electric since it began in 2002. It will continue to grow and we will see that this year when the Titans wear the Oilers jerseys that caused a lot of controversy last season. I believe that will make the Houston players play a little bit harder against the Titans this year.
